Mycotech Lab (MYCL) started out as mushroom gourmet producers in 2012. Once realizing that the mushroom-growing bags became hard and robust after use, the company started doing research on this phenomena by cooperating with numerous Mycology laboratories located in Indonesia, Singapore, and Switzerland. As a result of these researches, MYCL now focuses on mushroom mycelium, the vegetative part of mushrooms, for any other usage. It can be developed as a natural adhesive or binding agent to create biomaterial composite boards (Biobo). Or cultivate it to create a novel and strong, leather-like material (Mylea™) which can be used as an alternative material for conventional leather.
Due to the possibility of the mycelium development being controlled and adjusted during their growth span, the materials are easy to develop without expensive, sophisticated processing methods. MYCL also consistently measures their corporate Greenhouse Gas emission from 2020. Certified B Corp and got low carbon awards from MIT Solve, While Mylea™ is included in 1000 efficient solutions by Solar Impulse Foundation.
In addition to Mylea™, we are also developing long term research and penetration for two other products which are also made from mycelium. Biobo, a biomaterial board with mycelium as its binding agent, to create remarkable structural patterns that could rejuvenate residential, industrial and public spaces. As well as composite research that allowed us to create various shapes with mycelium and explore more possibilities of mushrooms as the key to the future.
